The major reason for the Han dynasty falling was an economic imbalance caused by customs that allowed the rich to gain more wealth by taking the poor peoples' land.
according to the custom the family's land was divided equally among all of the fathers male heirs.unless a farmer could afford to buy more land in his life time each generation inherited smaller plots. because of this farmers went into debt and had to barrow money from large land owners if the farmer couldn't pay back the large landowner the large landowner got to take the farmers land. the large landowners were not required to pay taxes so when they took possession of a farmers land there was less land to tax causing the Han Dynasty to fall. |
